Comprehensive Plan for the East Riverfront To Be Unveiled Soon
Thursday, October 6, 2016
October 6, 2016 [DETROIT]—For the last several months, a series of public forums have allowed members of the community to voice their opinions about what they’d like to see the East Riverfront District become in the future. As the four-month planning process nears completion, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and City of Detroit Planning Department are preparing to share the plan with the public.
The meetings held throughout the summer have provided the Conservancy and its partners with valuable input that was used to create a comprehensive plan for the district. In addition to community meetings, the public were invited to participate in walking and bike tours this summer. Additionally, a boat cruise provided guests with a little history of the Detroit Riverfront and the opportunity to view the waterfront from a different perspective.
The 30-year plan will create an ambitious vision for the future of the Detroit Riverfront as a vibrant, inclusive and welcoming district for everyone. The plan will also provide direction for six elements of future growth strategies: Community; Riverfront Experience and Public Access; Engagement and Equity; Connectivity; Nature and Ecology, and Authentically Detroit.
Watch for the plan to be made available in the coming weeks. For information, visit, www.yourdetroiteastriverfront.org.
