Saturday, October 19, 2019
October 19, 2019 - [DETROIT] - “Governor Milliken was a great friend and a tremendous leader for our state. He was also a great friend of the Detroit Riverfront. As the longest-serving governor in the State of Michigan’s history, William Milliken was a tireless advocate for the environment and for sustainability. The tremendous impact he has had on our great State will be felt for generations. Those of us at the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy are deeply saddened by his passing and our thoughts go out to his family.
Every day along the riverfront we are reminded by Governor Milliken’s commitment to the environment by the beautiful state park that bears his name. It is a fitting tribute for a man who has done so much for our natural resources in Michigan." - Matt Cullen, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Detroit Riverfront Conservancy
