Work progresses on enclosing the historic Globe Building and transforming the structure into the Outdoor Adventure & Discovery Center. When it is complete, visitors will experience the Michigan outdoors through four primary interpretive areas – Michigan Trails, The Big Tree, The Detroit River and Beyond and Backyard Urban Wildlife. Interactive displays will teach visitors how to use a real bow and arrow, sit in a blind and use a simulator to hunt deer, experience the sights and textures associated with camping and experience the night-time sky in a large self-contained room.
The 43,000 square-foot building is scheduled to open the summer of 2014.
