New Construction Transforms the East Riverfront
Thursday, October 6, 2016
New construction projects continue to change the landscape of the East Riverfront.
ORLEANS LANDING
The 20 buildings comprising Phase One of the Orleans Landing project are now enclosed and interior framing is complete. Additionally, appliances are being placed in many units.
The primary focus during the fall months will be completing interior finishes, which includes painting the walls and installing decorative wood trim and granite countertops.
On the outside, several buildings are having final exterior brickwork and siding installed.
When complete, the project, which is scheduled to begin welcoming tenants at the end of the year, will feature 278 residential units and space for retail.
The Orleans Landing leasing office is now open. Call (855) 556-6706 for more information.
CAMPBELL MEMORIAL TERRACE
The Campbell Memorial Terrace along the Dequindre Cut is nearing completion. With the custom-designed canopy that shades the stage and the curved concrete seating walls in place, crews are installing decorative landscaping throughout the outdoor performance space. The Terrace was constructed to honor former founding Conservancy Board member and McGregor Fund president, CEO and trustee C. David Campbell, who passed away in 2014.
When complete, the Terrace will be a small-scale performance space for impromptu performances from people throughout the community and for planned events. The general public will get a chance to see the space activated during the October 22 Harvest Detroit festival.
STROH RIVER PLACE
The process of connecting the RiverWalk from Stroh River Place to Chene Park East is underway. A Construction Manager has been selected for the project, and work is slated to begin this fall.
The project consists of installing a pedestrian bridge and amenities such as stainless steel benches, marine railing, new lighting, security cameras and colorful landscaping.
All work on this important piece of riverfront connectivity is scheduled for completion by the Fall of 2017.
