The Conservancy breaks ground on the Southwest Greenway, formerly known as the May Creek Greenway, on April 6. During the coming months, contractors will focus on the installation of the underground utilities, as well as installing a retention pond near the Jefferson Avenue entrance. When that is complete, crews will begin to lay the concrete pathway and install light posts and benches.
With the grand opening expected later this fall, the Southwest Greenway will connect the Detroit Riverfront with the Michigan Central mobility innovation district and to neighborhoods throughout Southwest Detroit and Corktown.
